Matt Semeraro newest member of Seaside Heights BOE..

June 7, 2008

Matt Semeraro is seen being administered the oath of office to fill a nine month unexpired Board of Education term, lasting until March 2009. Matt will have to run in April 2009 to fill the remaining year of this unexpired term, and then again in 2010 when that seat is up again for the full 3-year term.

Matt Semeraro newest member of Seaside Heights BOE: At the June 2nd meeting of the Seaside Heights Board of Education, a new member was sworn-in. Readers might recognize the name of Matt Semeraro, who is a Communications Officer with the Seaside Heights Police Department, and also an active member of Station 44, The Seaside Heights Volunteer Fire Department and the Seaside Heights Office of Emergency Management. When the seat became available, Matt was among the first names mentioned to fill it. Matt was interested, applied, and was unanimously approved by the existing four BOE members. Matt’s appointment is only until March 2009. In this certain situation, Matt will have to run in the April 2009 election, but for only a one-year term, what is left of the vacant seat’s time. Then, in 2010, Matt would have to run again, this time for the entire 3-year term he is filling.

Leonard Ipri, D-Day Veteran…

June 7, 2008

ACTUAL D-DAY VETERAN Leonard Ipri, is one of the few remaining survivors of this historic battle on the coast of France, which was the beginning of the end of World War II.

Leonard Ipri, D-Day Veteran: Friday June 6th was the 64th anniversary of D-Day. For those of you who might not know, D-Day began the invasion of Normandy, France, the beginning of the end of World War II. Many lost their lives that day, and of the survivors, not many are still around to tell the tale. In Seaside Heights, Leonard Ipri is a surviving veteran of D-Day, and recently stopped into the Office of Public Relations to show photos and tell stories of this historic day. Many thanks to Leonard, and all of those from the “Greatest Generation” for their many sacrifices for our freedom.

Lou Urcinole saves the day…

June 7, 2008

Even after a long hard day at work, Lou Urcinole availed himself after-hours last week to fix some local friends and neighbors broken air conditioning systems at a very reasonable price.

Lou Urcinole saves the day: Nobody likes to be without air conditioning, especially when a major heatwave is predicted. Luckily Seaside Heights has an air conditioning specialist working for the Borough, and is available to take side jobs at night when necessary. Upon hearing last week that two of his friends and neighbors were without air, Lou immediately made himself available. Lou quickly diagnosed the problems, and made the necessary repairs at a very reasonable price. With so many stories of advantage-taking air conditioning repairmen raising their rates this time of year, it is nice to see an honest one.

Kevin Stewart wins BID 50/50…

June 7, 2008

Announcer Wayne Cimorelli, SSH BID Executive Director Maria Maruca, and ticket puller Sheriff William Polhemus congratulate Kevin Stewart, winner of the 50/50 at the BID Summer Kick-Off party.

Kevin Stewart wins BID 50/50: On Monday June 2nd, The Seaside Heights Business Improvement District held their annual Summer Kick-Off party. For the second year in a row, the event was held at Hemingway’s Cafe. (2007’s BID party was only the second party ever held at the then-brand new Hemingway’s.) Business persons from throughout Seaside Heights mingled and enjoyed great food and drink. The highlight of the night was the drawing of the 50/50. Lucky winner was Kevin Stewart, son of Bob and Helen Stewart of Stu’s Water Guns. Congratulations Kevin.
