Friends of the late Ray Andreola (1956-2008) are seen doing a traditional surfers "paddle-out".

Paddle-Out for Ray Andreola (1956-2008): It is with the greatest sadness that we must announce the untimely passing of our loyal reader and friend Ray Andreola. Although in Hawaii, Ray checked this website weekly, until he passed from liver cancer last week. To honor a fellow brother, other surfers conducted at “paddle out” at 7:30 Wednesday July 30th. A paddle out is a ritual where Raymond’s surfer brother gather around, while real brother Lou Andreola spread Ray’s ashes in his beloved surf. Many attended the touching occasion, and it was commented about on the Boardwalk public address ceremony as well.

Happy Birthday Miss Stephanie Smith: Miss Stephanie Smith is turning 29 August 4th, 2008. Stephanie is of course Pete’s eldest, very beloved niece and often muse, born when Pete was just 8 years old. Stephanie is extremely smart, funny and talented. Happy Birthday Steph!

Seaside Heights now has “Smart Car”.

Car 28 of the SHPD fleet is a new “Smart Car”.

Seaside Heights now has “Smart Car”: They are said to be great on gas, and easy to park. Chief Thomas J. Boyd of the Seaside Heights Police Department recently unveiled a “Smart Car”. The energy efficient vehicle gets about 30 miles per gallon of gasoline, and has about 70 horsepower. The car was purchased for $16,000, making it quite affordable. Although tiny, the Smart Car can feet two big men comfortably, and is nicely equipped and appointed inside. The car is perfect for both boardwalk and street use. Seaside Heights often experiments with new technologies, including the Segway a few years back, which still makes Boardwalk appearances.
