Tight-knit Kearney Avenue…

August 26, 2007

Some of Pete’s Kearney Avenue neighbors: Ray and Karen Frazier, Ron and Joanne Funari, and Rocco and Barbara Maltese.

Some readers may remember that at the beginning of 2006, Pete moved from Bay Boulevard to the ocean block of Kearney Avenue in Seaside Heights. Since moving to Kearney Avenue, Pete has noticed that his block is one of the tightest-knit neighborhoods in Seaside Heights. It is common to see groups of neighbors gathering out on their front porches on a warm summer evening, enjoying each-other’s company. Recently, such a get-together was held with Rocco & Barbara Maltese (family on the block since 1972), Ray and Karen Frazier (family on the block since 1946), and relative newcomers Ron and Joanne Funari (on the block since 2002).

Thanks Seaside Heights Beach Patrol…

August 26, 2007

Some of the members of the Seaside Heights Beach Patrol are seen in the Hiering Avenue Parking Lot at the end of a busy beach day.

Each day of the busy summer season, the lifeguards of the Seaside Heights Beach Patrol are seen protecting the ocean swimmers. Many of the guards park in the big lot on Hiering Avenue, and then are shuttled back and forth to their various stations via the big lifeguard truck. Once again, thanks to the SHBP for keeping bathers safe for another year in 2007. Now that the main part of the season is coming to a close, many of the guards are going back to school, either as students or teachers. Even though many will soon leave, the SHBP will be on duty throughout the month of September as weather dictates, with a smaller post-season crew.
