Seaside Heights may get Green Acres grant to buy Marina

The long-sought marina property along the bay front at about Carteret and Sampson and Avenues may become a reality to the Borough of Seaside Heights, thanks to some creative finance.

In combination with a Green Acres grant, and as explained by Borough Administrator Christopher J. Vaz, a “utility” will be created to run the marina, to make it affordable to the Borough and out of its bond limit capacity. It’s complicated, but it should make the profitable marina property work.

The marina is the only property that the Borough does not own along its bay front. The marina has not only boat slips, but also a restaurant and other leases that make money.
The Borough has been on and off for years in negotiations to buy the marina.
