Landmark music stand, “Union Jack’s” is history along the boardwalk in Seaside Heights. The location is seen recently being converted to a basketball stand.

‘Union Jack’ now lowered in Seaside Heights: The Union Jack will no longer be flying on the boardwalk in Seaside Heights. The landmark music stand Union Jacks, which had stood since along the promenade near Dupont Avenue and The Boardwalk since 1968 has now closed. Union Jack’s owner Earl Livingston decided to give up the business, citing a change in the recording industry and things such as digital music, Ipods, and so on. Union Jack’s was once one of 24 record stands on the boardwalk, and was the last remaining. The old Union Jack’s will now be a basketball stand operated by ‘Big Hearted John’ Sundermann and Eric Faranda. .
