H.O.T. Team wins big!

The cleverly-named Seaside Heights H.O.T. team of Hershey, Ottoson and Tompkins pose with Chief Tommy Boyd following their big win on Election Day.

The team of Ken Hershey for Mayor, Arline Ottoson for Council, and Rich Tompkins for Council, who used the clever acronym of the Seaside Heights H.O.T. team, were big winners on Election Day. The H.O.T. team was well-known for their door-to-door campaigning, and the 1,200 one-half pound Hershey bars that were the team’s calling card. Although there was no opposition, and was an “off” election year with no major contests in higher levels of government, the 2007 election saw brisk business at the polls in Seaside Heights, according to Isabella Deluca, longtime poll worker. Isabella credits the aggressive H.O.T. team campaign and the Hershey bars to the big turnout.
