Say Hello to Vera Arthurs…

Recently, our cameras caught up with Mrs. Vera Arthurs. Vera might be a little more well known around the area by her former name, Vera Mazzanti. Vera is the daughter of Guy and Edna Mazzanti, longtime Seaside Heights residents who celebrated their 50th anniversary this year. Vera was seen on the boardwalk with husband Jim and longtime friend and local businessman “Big Hearted John” Sundermann. Vera had once been a business woman herself in Seaside Heights. In the early 1980’s Vera owned an ice cream shop at the intersection of Blaine and Central Avenues. This had once been the location of the famed Mazzanti Market, a business started by her grandparents, and a longtime landmark during the growing years of the Borough. Vera’s ice cream place was popular for its ice cream and also because it had a Donkey Kong video game machine that attracted local youth. Vera’s first daughter, now grown, was about a one-year old baby at this time she first opened the ice cream shop, and a popular menu treat Tiffany’s Tornado, was the namesake to Vera’s tiny (now late) beloved dog.
