Halloween lawn creations from Al Poane…

Local artist Al Poane is making a series of Halloween lawn decorations for the Seaside Heights Borough Hall.

The decorations are based on the Charles Schulz classic, It’s The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown.

Al painstakingly traces designs onto a special type of plywood, and paints in the detail.

One of the scenes for 2007 is the famous image of Charlie Brown’s ghost costume with multiple holes and his trick or treat bag surprise of a rock.

Before being an artist, Al was a police officer in Seaside Heights for many years.

In 1985, the Seaside Heights governing body issued Al a “golden” parking meter as a prize for his many years as the head of the Parking Meter Division.

Al still has his golden parking meter and it is on display as a lamp in his art studio.
